Ephesians 6:12 SW

In Ephesians 6:11 and 6:13, Paul directs the Ephesian Christians to suit up. They're heading into battle! But… the foes he describes in verse 12... Mere mortal man is not the opponent in this fight. Instead, Paul describes evil rulers, authorities in the unseen places, mighty powers in the "dark" and evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Eph 6:12) You should be sufficiently creeped out after studying this dark little corner of scripture. The enemies of whom Paul is speaking may be unseen, but they're no less real. Like really real. The real deal. They're literally real. Bible authors, including Jesus, don't just casually mention Satan and his conspirators in passing. No, we’re given a great deal of information about him. It’s clear that God wants us to be wise to his nature and treachery, and to fully appreciate his eternally devastating influence on humanity. Paul advises us to put on the full armor of God which is a metaphor for holding fast to the Holy Spirit, the gospel, and salvation coupled with virtues we should embody as Christians. Satan’s big moment is nearing, but so is the day when those famous, walking on water feet are planted firmly on the Mount of Olives.
